God of Thunder

I had a great time with this game as a young one. God of Thunder, created in 1993, stars Thor, son of Odin, completing puzzles and destroying enemies on a quest to reclaim his dad's homeland. It's pretty similar to Legend of Zelda in the way that you gotta go around picking up items and powerups from a top-down 2D perspective.
Gameplay: 9/10
Personally, I think it plays better than Legend of Zelda, and let's just set this straight; Thor's hammer is freaking sweet. You can sort of throw it wherever you want by being able to move it around. The game's speed is fantastic, it's hard to get bored walking across the map. The puzzles are fairly creative and do require some thinking, even early in the game. The townspeople are also pretty informative and they help you stick to the plot and also have some fun. -1 point for no map.

Graphics: 7/10
Alright, Thor looks like a dwarf, and you're also fighting blobs, bats, and other generally unimaginative creatures. But the game itself is nice and colorful, everything is easy to spot, and there's even some of those pseudo sidescrolling scenes. -3 points for lack of creative enemies and Thor looking like a little man.
Sound: 4/10
Okay, this might seem like a bad review, considering the sound is fairly high quality and the game is from 1993. There's music too, but I don't care. Guess that says enough. However, my main beef with it is the fact that the hammer goes "pew pew" and you hear Thor do something like "Um" every two seconds. Dying is pretty great though, "Aaaaahhh." Honestly, the sound is ridiculous and out of place. -6 points, can't you handle it?

Overall: 8/10
God of Thunder is still pretty awesome to this day. It'll have you playing for quite a while, if you choose to get into it. The best thing about it is the fact that you don't have to wait around and it really doesn't take that long to complete.  Zelda's pretty overrated anyways.
